What was once a home to the Samuel Haas Trimmed Hat Company, The Draper blends its rich history with modern, eclectic design. This adaptive reuse project revitalizes the six-story structure, honoring its industrial roots while introducing vibrant, contemporary living spaces.

The Draper comprises 99 dwelling units, and reimagined tenant amenity spaces. Our design intent sought to question established apartment building tropes - the always-empty lobby, the sad second entry, and meager gym equipment. We opted instead to maximize the building’s historic identity within the context of modern amenities.

Historic lobby tile and concrete are contrasted with greens, blues, cognacs and warm woods of the interior design. Much like the addition of a hat to a wardrobe, the interior of the space draws attention and creates delight for the users with distinctive personality and charm.
